The snowboarding equivalent of Tony Hawk's successful TRICK TIPS series, this first volume features some amazing stunts taught in a easy-to-follow, straightforward way. Also included here is some advice on how to look after your snowboard, and some very entertaining dialogue from snowboarding gurus Todd Richards and Billy Anderson.
Richards shares his expertise with detailed instructions for kickturns and ollies, frontside and backside airs, dropping in to the halfpipe, and controlling speed while riding. As a member of the first U.S. Snowboard Team, having competed in the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan, Richards is one of the true authorities on the sport. Jumps, rails, and grabs are covered here, as are other basic information tidbits such as snowboarding safety and etiquette. TODD RICHARDS' TRICK TIPS VOLUME I is an instructional film more than anything else, helping beginner snowboarders to improve their technique, practice basic tricks, and head on up to the next level.

Long Story Short DVD...
Level 1 Productions
Telling a tale of six months of sun, snow, and rain, over a dozen of skiing’s most talented athletes, hundreds of thousands of miles traveled, tens of thousands of vertical feet hiked, hundreds of quarts of 2-stroke snowmobile oil, a dozen speeding tickets and at least as many missed connecting flights, this year’s Level 1 film is indeed a VERY long story, short. Shot in high-definition across the frozen globe, from remote powder stashes of Hokkaido, Japan, to the bent metal and concrete of the East Coast of North America, and the fabled kicker zones of Austria, and everywhere in between. Level 1 furthers their innovative vision of skiing, continuing their tradition of captivating cinematography, inspired features and locations, and mind-blowing skiing exploits in what will be THE story of the ’06 ski season. In addition to over 60-minutes of the best bonus features in the business, all DVDs will include a supplementary mini “magazine” including stories, photos, athlete profiles, and art from this past season, providing the viewer further insight into the skiing, the production process, and the people involved then they otherwise could through the movie alone.
Featuring: Liam Downey, Tim Russel, Corey Vanular, Loic Collomb-Patton, Dan Marion, Colby West, Stefan Thomas, Travis Redd, Steele Spence, Craig Coker, JF Houle, Alex Balsen, John Symms, Cedric Tremblay-Fournier, Matt Philippi, JD Zicat, and others.

Once upon a morning journey I stopped and watched a figure scurry. Atop one snow pile he did hurry From my perch I tried to focus, As I searched I began to notice This man’s boots were held in straps Adorned with saggy Gortex chaps. Tethered to a board made of plastic, What came next was something drastic. The figure turned and began to slide Straight downhill, with a powerful glide Upon arrival of this snow mound, Dancing and twisting in a single bound. Like a black bird taking flight, This figure moved with precision and might. When gravity started to take hold Our hero’s flight was over sold. His mighty legs were poised and ready, His hands became quite strong and steady. As his board and snow would mesh Like a raven’s talon grasping flesh. He pointed a fist up to the sun While he cruised down the outrun From the trees I could hear All his friends yell and cheer. My mind began to draw blank As he stepped off his p-tex plank I quickly asked the other witness “Excuse me sir, but what is this?” After a second he made his claim Just simply put “This is Afterlame.”
Robot Riders: David Benedek, Scotty Arnold, Louie Fountain, Chris Engelsman, Giom Morisset, Josh Dirksen, Charlie Morace, Christoph Weber, Bobby Meeks, Travis Parker, Jakob Wilhelmson, and Hampus Mosseson.

Volcom combines sweet snow shredding with their own brand of artiness to make their new Escramble DVD. Volcommunists Gigi Ruff, the Leines bros, the elusive Bryan Iguchi and Jamie Lynn and golden boy Shaun White take Escramble where other snow vids dare to go – the land of claymation; It's Volcom and they've been getting away with doing things differently for just over a decade now. If they want morphing animation and German subtitles then they'll have just that! But back to the riding, it's all awesome!
Volcom's roster includes some of the longest-running pro talent in all of snowboarding and the terrain they tackle proves it. This is no jib flick it's pure snowboarding from lofty steeps, perfect pow and playgrounds of pillow drops. It's been a while since Volcom put out a snowboard film and the time put into Escramble shows through with quality riding and unique production.

In The Gap Session, David Benedek finally realizes his vision of the perfect kicker "that you can't get hurt on." The city of Garmisch, Germany offered the use of their 1936 Olympic Games stadium to host this event. Although much of the film is dedicated to the design process and construction of this super-kicker, the one-week session is pretty amazing. Benedek invited a cadre of today's uber-pros to Garmisch to spin, flip and huck themselves to glory. It's awesome to see everything that goes on behind the scenes to make a jump like this happen.
The Gap Session is one of the best snowboarding films that I've seen in a long time.
